Dehua: 商业顾问(shāngyè gùwèn), |
Michael: meaning "sales consultant." |
Michael: Let’s break down this phrase. |
Dehua: First is 商业(shāngyè). |
Michael: It means "sales, do business." |

Dehua: To change the type of advisor, put a different word in front of 顾问(gùwèn). |
Michael: Can you give us an example using this phrase? |
Dehua: Sure. For example, you can say… 商业顾问专门解答客户的疑问。(Shāngyè gùwèn zhuānmén jiědá kèhù de yíwèn.) |
Michael: which means "The sales consultant specializes in solving and answering the customer problems and questions." |
Michael: Okay, what's the next word? |

Dehua: A similar phrase is 超越自己(chāoyuè zìjǐ), |

Michael: which means "Many people participate in the marathon because they want to challenge themselves." |
Michael: Okay, now onto the lesson focus. |
Lesson focus
|
Michael: In this lesson, you'll learn about getting a job interview. |
Michael: A very common question in job interviews is "Tell us something about yourself, please." How is this said in Chinese, Dehua? |
Dehua: 请介绍您自己。(Qǐng jièshào nín zìjǐ.) |
Michael: If you want to answer with details about your education, there’s a couple of phrases we can use. The first is |
Dehua: 我从_(some college)_毕业。(Wǒ cóng __(some college)________ bìyè.) |
Michael: "I graduated from (some college)" The second is; |
Dehua: 我主修_(some major)__。(Wǒ zhǔ xiū _______(some major)___.) |

Michael: Now, you might also talk about your work experience, using phrases such as; |
Dehua: 到现今,我在_(some company)_担任__(some position)___。(Dào xiànjīn, wǒ zài __(some company)_ dānrèn _(some position)_.) |
Michael: "Until now, I have been working as a ‘position’ at ‘company.’" You can also say; |

Dehua: The most common way of asking someone to give reasons is using the question word 为什么 (wèishénme). |
Michael: This means "why." Let’s hear some examples of questions using this word. |
Dehua: 您为什么选择我们公司?(Nín wèishénme xuǎnzé wǒmen gōngsī?) |
Michael: "Why did you choose our company?" |
Dehua: 你为什么要换工作?(Nǐ wèishénme yào huàn gōngzuò?) |
Michael: "Why did you decide to switch jobs?" How can we answer these questions? |
Dehua: With 因为 (yīnwèi). |
Michael: This is "because." You then follow it with the reason. |
Dehua: 因为我想获得更多经验。(Yīnwèi wǒ xiǎng huòdé gèng duō jīngyàn.) |
Michael: "Because I want to gain more experience." |
Dehua: It’s possible to leave out 因为 (yīnwèi). For example 我想获得更多经验。(Wǒ xiǎng huòdé gèng duō jīngyàn.) |
