Hi Zach
In this line '那本关于汽车的书。', '那本关于汽车的' is a modifier for '书', a modifier for nouns, so you see the particle 的.
This's one of the most used way to modify/give more information to a noun/pronoun/noun phrase, and 的 is the indicater (the tricky part is the 的 can be omitted sometimes).
In English, this modifier often comes after the noun, in the form of relative clause, and all kinds of phrases, etc, such as 'on the bookshelf', 'which is on the booshelf', for another sentence in this lesson:' 我想看一下那个书架上的书。'
When you see many more examples of this usuage, you will understand it better. This is almost the opposite to the English one.
Thanks for learning with us. If you have any other questions, just let us know.

I cannot join without an example of a full lesson with key vocab, their translations and pronunciations. Just providing a quiz is not sufficient for me to see if Chineseclass101 will be what I am looking for.

Hello Gerald,
Thank you for your comment. When "正在" or "在" is placed before verbs, it indicates that an action is in progress. For example, 小明正在看电视。 and 小明在看电视。Both sentences mean "Xiao Ming is watching TV."
Keep it up! And let us know if you have any questions.

大家好!谢谢你的课。
请问,''正在''什么意思?''在'' 和 ''正在'' 意思一样吗?
这词汇不难😄

What is the grammar rule behind 汽车的书
的 is connecting two nouns here?

It wasn't what I expected, but everything is available to learn from the lesson. I suggest having a quick vocab rundown in the video before the dialog, then true listening comprehension can be tested. As things are now, I can read the vocabulary on the web page to get ready for the video... so it's all there, I just need to remember to study the words before watching the video.
Hello Tony,
Thank you for posting.
You can find the Pinyin version of both the sentences and the vocabulary in the Lesson Materials section.
Unfortunately we're not able to add Pinyin into the video subtitles.
Thank you for your understanding.
Let us know if you have any question.
Cheers,
Lena

Hi, Tony,
Thank you for your comment.
You suggest we should add the Pinyin of the sentences, right?
We will be back to you later.

These are good, but it would be nice to have the pinyin instead of the English translation at the end.
Hi, Nathan Dronsfield,
Thank you for your comment.
Since whether the word is "new" or "old" changes to different people.
So for different listeners, it is hard for us to add all the new words to the lesson materials.
If you hear a sentence with some new words, I suggest you write the whole sentence down, and try to find them in the dictionary. It won't take too much time if using internet like google.

I think this is a fantastic way to improve listening skills, and it is so good to hear words used in sentences.
For me I would love to see if there is any way to add to the lesson materials some quick word translations for new words found in the dialogue.
Hi Isabel,
Thank you for the comment. We'll cosndier your feedback when making the future lessons!

Still a bit too fast for me, but the idea is great.
